ProInversión showcased in Europe the investment opportunities offered by Peru in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects worth over US$10 billion, the legal framework favorable to investments, and the interest of Peru to promote the participation of European companies in important infrastructure projects and public services.
The ProInversión delegation, led by Executive Director, Alberto Ñecco, toured the cities of London (England), Paris (France) and Zurich (Switzerland) with the aim of promoting some 20 projects ready to be awarded through 2018-2020, in various sectors such as transportation, healthcare, water and sanitation, mining, gas and electric transmission lines, among others.
A large audience of British investors showed up at the "A Bright Future - Peru's PPP Outlook 2018" event, organized by the Embassy of Peru in the United Kingdom in association with Hogan Lovells legal firm and with the collaboration of Canning House foundation and TheCityUK. The investors were attracted by the growth of the Peruvian economy, its solid macroeconomic fundamentals and the investment needs in the infrastructure sector, which totaled US$160 million.
In London, ProInversión also held bilateral meetings with potential investors and major consulting firms, in order to discuss in greater detail each of the projects in the portfolio, as well as the opportunities to hire top-level advisors for the PPP project processes conducted by the agency.
Subsequently, the ProInversión delegation met with representatives from Infrastructure & Projects Authority, for a better in-depth knowledge of the PPP system in the United Kingdom. In Paris, ProInversión met with the most important companies in France in all areas (consulting, investors, law firms, etc.), after attending an event organized with the support of the Embassy of Peru in Paris, the Foreign Trade Office of Peru in Paris (OCEX Paris) and the French Business Confederation (MEDEF) – the main business association of France). Transportation, water and sanitation projects lured the attention of French investors.
Later, in Zurich, ProInversión and the Embassy of Peru in Switzerland organized a Roadshow, with the support of the Latin American Chamber of Commerce in Switzerland, Switzerland Global Enterprise and the Secretary of State for Economic Affairs of Switzerland (SECO).
The Chief Strategy Officer of CreditSuisse Bank, Pierre Bose, presented the positive evolution of the economic indicators of Peruvian economy, while the Head of the SECO Americas Division, Philippe Nell, highlighted the good level of bilateral economic relations and the cooperation provided by Switzerland to Peru.
The event, held in one of the main European financial centers, brought together representatives from some 30 companies operating in the financial, industrial, engineering and construction, and water treatment and sanitation sectors. Likewise, ProInversión consolidated the interest of two world-class investors with an primary interest in transportation.
